Handíková, Karolína ; Macháčková, Jana (advisor) ; Kvaszová, Milena (referee)
HANDÍKOVÁ KAROLÍNA, Peer assessment in mathematics in the 5th grade of primary school, Prague, Faculty of Education, Charles University, 2022. The diploma thesis Peer Assessment in Mathematics in the 5th Year of Basic School deals with the methods of assessment used in the first period of education of pupils at basic schools. The thesis consists of two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the concept of school assessment, I present its brief development, functions and I also distinguish different types of school assessment. Evaluation is viewed in the thesis on three levels - self-evaluation, peer evaluation and teacher evaluation. The thesis emphasizes peer evaluation, which is given increased attention in the field of research. The practical part consists of research focused on working with a square grid and counting the content of various geometric shapes, where pupils pass through different levels based on peer assessment. Evaluation of the upper grades pupils in the primary school and his influence to motivation to learn
Musilová, Miroslava ; Kasíková, Hana (advisor) ; Valenta, Josef (referee)
This paper titled "Evaluation of the lower secondary education students and its influence on learning motivation" is focused on the most frequently used methods of evaluation at today's schools. It considers not only evaluation methods complying with students but also relation between evaluation and learning motivation. It includes an analysis of current situation of students' self-evaluation. The whole paper is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part portrays the core essence and the importance of the evaluation, its principles and qualities. It describes some important concepts, such as a pedagogical evaluation and its legal framework. It identifies function and techniques of the evaluation from the school legislation point of view and at the same time it illustrates the current tendencies in its development. It maps some types, forms and evaluation function. It explains in more details motivational function of evaluation as well as self-evaluation. The empirical part deals with a detailed research which is dedicated to exploration of the most frequently used pedagogical evaluation methods at the chosen schools. Simultaneously, it investigates which evaluation methods are preferred by students themselves and whether evaluation somehow impacts their motivation level...
Formative Assessment in the Educational Area Man and His World
Mücková, Tereza ; Stará, Jana (advisor) ; Krčmářová, Tereza (referee)
The presented diploma thesis deals with the use of formative assessment in the educational area Man and His World. Its outcome offers a possible way of solving the shortcomings of the area in question which negatively affects pupils' attitudes towards the school subjects of this educational area. The theoretical part presents findings about the assessment in general, namely its definition, presentation of functions, types and forms of assessment. It also emphasizes the relationship between the objectives and assessment which will be a pivotal one in the educational area in question. It also discusses the specifics of this educational area in relation to the impact on pupils' attitudes. Findings about formative assessment are focused on the definition, analysis of advantages and methods of implementation into teaching. The empirical part is based on the findings from the theoretical part and is carried out by a mixed research design. Questionnaire, interview and observation was used as methods to conduct the research. The aim was to find out whether the pupils who are assessed formatively have a more positive attitude than the pupils, who are assessed only summatively. The established hypothesis assumes that the pupils who are assessed formatively would have a better attitude towards the subject,...
Assessment in Biology Education in Trebic, Znojmo and surroundings
KLIMEŠOVÁ, Martina
Bachelor thesis describes the assessment methods used in teaching natural science at selected schools on Trebic and Znojmo district. The survey among students showed that teachers mostly use the written assessment, during which mainly focus on knowledge of the concepts and definitions. Nearly three quarters of students have experience with formative assessment. Replies teachers from classes, in which the survey was conducted, confirmed these findings from questionnaires for students.
Student´s Summative Assesment in Math in Relation to Selected Factors
CHYTRÝ, Vlastimil
The issues of formative and summative assessment have been discussed for quite some time inside the didactic research community and these two types of assessment are put in complementary ambivalent positions. However, not many times are they discussed according to other factors, such as student self-assessment in terms of metacognitive monitoring, which is suitable for more cognitively demanding tasks. This article puts summative assessment in relation to student self-assessment via specific testing tool focusing mainly on logical thing and mathematical skills of a particular student. Other factors of motivation, such as age or gender will be also discussed further. It shows, that neither age nor gender are of any limit to student self-assessment, or performance, both in tests of local thinking, but also in tests of mathematical problem-solving skills. On the other hand, there seems to be a strong dependence between all the previously mentioned and school evaluation/assessment. The most important finding however, is that there was no difference detected between self-assessment levels of students and different levels of assessment in education. Many studies point out the importance of self-assessment in terms of metacognitive monitoring which influences the overall school performance.
Determinants of Foreign Language Learning
Jílková, Jana ; Prokop, Jiří (advisor) ; Betáková, Lucie (referee) ; Smetáček, Vladimír (referee)
The purpose of this doctoral thesis is to analyse chosen factors involved in foreign language acquisition, compare three types of assessment strategies of foreign language knowledge and skills to look for correlations between students' outcomes, their school and out-of-school background and time factors. In this mixed research study the data collected from documents, questionnaires and semi-structured interviews were analysed. State language examination candidates and upper- secondary students who were to take the new state school-leaving examination are involved in the study. The results show statistically significant relationship between the formal assessment by the teachers, through standardised examinations and by self-evaluation and factors as age when the learners started the foreign language learning, learning materials used and teachers' background. These findings may be used to provide feedback for strategic changes in study achievements to students, teachers and examiners.
